LCN is the leading manufacturer of commercial door closures. The first LCN door closer was manufactured in 1876 in Boston, Massachusetts by Mr. L.C. Norton, thence the company name LCN. Back then, the door closer had yet been invented, and Mr. Norton's church, the Boston Trinity Church, was in need of a solution to stop the slamming of the door from the severe wind from the Bay. L.C. Norton solved this problem by creating a makeshift door closure out of a beer pump, an arm, and some brackets. To his surprise, the door did not slam. As time progressed L.C. Norton refined his design. Today, LCN offers more than 30 different door closer designs and still remains as the leader in the door hardware industry.
